Ugsas Recruiting Information

Recruiting occurs at the beginning of each University year (around September/October). It occurs mainly once each year, so make sure you don't miss your chance! The best way to join is to visit our stand at the Freshers' Fairs.

Recruiting 2009!
Recruiting for 2009 has already begun! The squadron will be attending Glasgow University Freshers Fair, Strathclyde University,* Glasgow Caledonian University and The Scots Campus (George Square). Dates for these events can be found below. The Dates are:- Glasgow University- Tuesday 14th September, Wednesday 16th September. Caledonian University - Tuesday 22nd September Strathclyde University - Wednesday 23rd September Scots Campus(George Square) - Thursday 1st October and Friday 3nd October. You should look to make an application to the Squadron at the freshers fairs. If you like what you have seen, feel free to apply!

Direct Recruiting

If you're unable to attend the fairs then don't worry as you can apply to join by contacting us directly and requesting an interview.

Note: Direct Recruiting is closed for this academic year, please apply next year.

Selection

Naturally, demand is high and places are limited so entry to the squadron is competitive and is as follows:

> Formal Interview

The purpose of the interviews is to let the Staff get to know you. You will be asked questions on a variety of subjects including current affairs and general RAF knowledge (aircraft etc). You will be expected to talk about your life to date as well as any positions of responsibility you may have had in the past.

Entry to the squadron is competitive so make sure you prepare well for the interview and give yourself the best chance of getting a place on UGSAS!

Students who have successfully applied for University Sponsorship (Bursary/Cadetship) through RAF Cranwell are automatically UAS members and do not go through the above selection.
